Maafushivaru is the typical island epitomizing all that one dreams of when thinking of the Maldives. With its small island charm, lush vegetation surrounded by powder-white soft sand, and a house reef that a myriad of tropical fish call home, the island is just over 500 metres in length and can be walked in just 10 minutes and a bit!
Thatch-roofed villas inspired by local architecture are set amidst verdant gardens or are poised over the turquoise lagoon. Deceivingly modest exteriors hide worldly comforts and indulgences and all villas offer direct access to the beach or to the sea.
Designed for couples seeking to rekindle their romance or for families looking to spend quality time together, Maafushivaru offers an experience that elegantly combines a Maldives from times-gone-by with the contemporary luxuries of the present.
These are surrounded by abundant vegetation and located right beside the beach with sunloungers on a private deck facing the sea. Inside each spacious room you will find:
Air conditioning / fan
Flat-screen TV/DVD player
i-Pod docking station
Bath and beach towels
The bathroom is semi-open air with shower, and features an outdoor garden area with a rainfall shower made of stone.
The Pool Villas come with two separate villas, each with their own open air bathroom with rainfall shower. These villas are perfect for families with children or friends holidaying together. They have the same features as the Beach Villas with the addition of a private pool, shared between the two villas. Each Pool Villa has a shared entrance with a corridor and a separate dining pavilion. On the beach side there is a deck with sunloungers.
These magnificent villas are built out over water and offer modern comforts along with stunning views of the lagoon. Each villa is completely private, being accessed by its own walkway from the main jetty. Once inside you can enjoy luxuries which include:
The bathroom features a rainfall shower and a bath with hot and cold water and offers views of the ocean.
Outside is your own wooden deck with a seating area and sunloungers from where you can watch the myriad of different coloured tropical fish swimming by whilst you enjoy a relaxing drink from the mini-bar. Alternatively, you may wish to join them via the steps which lead down directly into the sea.

What better way to more fully experience the abundant marine life and colourful corals than to be right there amongst them?
Our fully equipped PADI dive centre with enthusiastic multi-lingual instructors offers a wide range of underwater adventures catering for all levels from beginners to experienced divers. Beginners will become ‘hooked’ when they discover the amazing underwater world, while experienced divers are sure to see something new among the many types of sharks, mantas, turtles, napoleons, tuna and other smaller, but maybe more colourful, dwellers on the reef.
There are two dives each day, morning and afternoon, from on board a Maldivian dhoni. Night dives, half day and full day trips to sites further afield are organised regularly. In addition, a range of courses leading to PADI certification is on offer.
Snorkelling is a must in the Maldives. If you don’t want to dive, or in addition to diving, you can see so many different vibrant corals, colourful fish and even turtles just from the surface of the water.
Our team is available to help beginners gain their first taste of the wonderful underwater world in the lagoon before progressing to the house reef and even a boat trip to snorkel at the Coral Garden.
For more experienced snorkelers there is a range of full morning snorkel safaris by boat to other reefs, all guided by a marine biologist who can help you identify what you see. Choose from spotting manta rays at Manta Point (seasonal), swimming with whale sharks at Ocean Reef, turtles in Boli Thila and a whole range of colourful fish and corals at Bodu, Kuda, Clementhila or the Sandbank.
Something for everyone from an hour on the water or a full day away.
While away a quiet afternoon on the deserted island of Lonubo.
Visit one of the local islands, Dhangethi, with its typical Maldivian village, for a taste of local lifestyle and culture and maybe do a little souvenir shopping.
Take a full day island-hopping trip with a beach barbecue for lunch.
The sunset cruise is a must! Enjoy a special cocktail while watching the fiery sun disappear and the sky turn that wonderful shade of pink ....so romantic! If you’re lucky you might even see a few dolphins...
For fishermen (and women!) go Big Game Fishing for Wahoo, Barracuda or Sailfish on one of the half day or full day trips. Alternatively, go trolling, another popular recreational sport in the Maldives, where a fishing line is drawn by a local Dhoni through the bountiful waters. Common catch includes Rainbow Runner, Wahoo and Yellow Fin Tuna.
Another great sunset experience is to go fishing from a dhoni which will take you out to the reef as the sun sets. Hopefully you will catch your own fish for lunch the next day.
For a more private experience you can hire a dhoni for the day and explore the islands to your own schedule. Hop on and off as the mood takes you. Stop and snorkel whenever you want.
Water sports centre has a range of windsurfing equipment, catamarans, canoes and pedaloes. If you are new to windsurfing or sailing, our staff will be happy to ‘show you the ropes’.
Maldivian night is an opportunity to experience the Maldivian style of music and dance, Bodu Beru, when local team members of Maafushivaru perform for you. On other evenings the range of entertainment is on offer at the Water Bar or discotheque and includes live music, movie night and mellow chill-out sounds. A schedule for the week’s entertainment is posted in the reception area.
Resort's wellness centre also has a fully equipped gymnasium to help you keep fit whilst on holiday.
Opening times: Spa 09.00 – 20.30 Gym 07.00 – 22.00
One cannot ask for more romantic setting than the soft white beaches, azure skies and the endless turquoise blue ocean glinting in the bright sun - all beckoning you to come and celebrate your new-found romance or renew your love for each other. Maafushivaru offers different renewal of love packages to suit your desires. Choose from the stunning expanse of powder-white sand at Lonubo, out in the lagoon on our Serenade Pavilion or simply on the beach with the turquoise Indian Ocean as your backdrop.
